I think two of my males locked up.

lilman Nov 26, 2009 03:15 PM

I have a small groupe of balls 5 in all. I am moving and didnt want to move any in a glass tank so I put them all into different tubs except two. My male mojave and what I thought was a Male Pastel. When I purchased the pastel I popped him and it looked like he looked like he had two hemi-penis. Theye looked to be small but he was a baby when I did that. Low and behold i get to my destination and there they are locked up. The mojave is a male for sure but is it possible i was something else when I popped the Pastel. I dont know how to probe and live about 2 hours from any reptile shops. any help would be helpful. Do males ever try to lock up?

Males will lock up - it's an act of dominance.

I think the pastel is probably a female....
Yes I have seen 2 huge male corns lock at a show right in public and right in front of me and all else...even the guy that bought one of them.....both had made hundreds of kids...

...balls are a little different....YES it might happen two males copped.....but I think what has happened ,and happens alot...is that people pop the females so hard they see the inverted scent glands and think pene....I have watched many a people popping and saying male...and I just laugh and explain to them why they weren't correct......I had a breeder a looong time ago bring back a female to my table and say "you sold me two males I think"...."I popped it and I see penes in the female"...there just happened to be a college Proffesor standing there chatting so I told him to be my guest and pop it for her and tell her what she is seeing / and has.....he popped and explained to her the female has scent glands that may invert....etc etc etc...she left happy enough yet embarrassed to boot....

.....OK..so ...question .....how big is the pastel...???

I agree w/the scent gland scenario! Normally, if the said hemipene doesn't fill w/blood, it's not!

I once had 2 male Dumeril's that were such good breeders, that if there were no females in the cage, they'd try to breed each other! No mixed genders either, they both sired litters!
