Toads and Turtles

mrkelley99 Sep 18, 2003 02:21 PM

About 6 months ago I found a small painted turtle on a sidewalk near a pond. I took it home and added it to my vivarium which also housed guppies and two fire-bellied toads.

I may be needing to tear down my vivarium for good, and I was wondering if anyone knew of any problems with diseases that my turtle might have caught from the toads. I want to return the turtle to a pond, but I also don't want to infect the pond with anything.

Suggestions?

Don't do it... it is a risk to the pond. If anything, take the turtle to the vet and see what he says if he's looking at your turtle, can find out if your turtle is carrying anything, and knows just what pond you're talking about.

There's a difference between the pond in front of a building, for example, and a natural pond, too. I wouldn't do it.
