Stomatitis or normal for Beanie?

Linda G Sep 18, 2003 03:03 PM

Hi Everyone,

Well, Beanie is still not eating on her own and yesterday
when I fed her I noticed there is a large white rounded thing
just behind her teeth at the roof of her mouth. Is this
normal? If not she has a real problem! I do not see any
other evidence of mouth rot though. There is no excess
saliva or anything. She is acting as healthy as can be
except for still not eating. I am beginning to think she
will never eat again "sigh" ! I don't know how she could
have gotten this as her enclosure is always spotless.

Thank you

Linda and Beanie

It doesn't sound like mouth rot. It sounds more like an abcess. I would take Beanie to the vet ASAP.
Are you syringe feeding Beanie pureed or baby food? I always did that when mine did not eat.

Yes, I am syringe feeding her every three days.

I looked up an anatomy picture of the mouth on the internet
and it showed the palate in the exact same place as this thing
in her mouth. What color is the palate?

Thanks

Pinkish white.......

Every three days is a long time in between. Espically if Beanie is not eating on his own. I would feed every day.

Does it look somewhat like a straw? Possibly like a tube?

I only got a quick glance at it. It is right behind her
upper teeth and it appears smooth and white. I looked at a
diagram and it appears to be where the palate is.

What do ya think?
Linda
