Speaking of ...old school....

CrimsonKing Dec 02, 2009 07:52 PM

...I have been wondering if anyone here still keeps the old school albino Cal kings..
That is, pure white and yellow banded ones....
NOT the LAVENDER looking snakes.
You know, the ones that mature into pure deep white with deep bright yellow bands??
Any photos?
Thanks!

do you meant the red eye albino or a T positive albino?

i recall the JR and JD strain in the early days. I don't recall the red eyes albinos beginnings but i am sure if FR is here he can give the correct history and B-days.

I remember the JD and JR names - those were given to the lavender albino Cal kings. I've noticed that nobody uses those names anymore, and I even forgot which one was the darker albino and which was the lighter of the two.

Is "JR" John Ruiz?

Is "JR" John Ruiz?

Yes. I wonder how many people know who he was and how many snakes he produced. Especially cornsnakes.

I always thought the JD & JR strain were ruby-eyed lavenders.....
I remember seeing that on pricelists back in early 90s.....

I always thought JR was John Ruiz, but who is JD?

Yes they were ruby eyes lavenders which i guess translates to T positive albinos.

JD was JD Holmes aka John Holmes the actor.

Yeah, John Holmes he was always showing off his leucistic Ball Python. And I'm sure more than a few were afraid of it too.

A buddy of mine has a big old hoss of a male that is the old days whitish and yellow albino. Sucker is over four foot long and pretty thick. Its his garbage disposal LOL!! Not sure about its age, but he has had it for quite awhile if I remember correctly. Probably around 8 years or so.

This is one of those "never say never stories". I said I'd never keep an albino Cal King... until I got this girl from my buddy Jasonmc --- as a GIFT!
