Best tubs for building racks?

Ram Dec 02, 2009 11:10 PM

A couple of years ago I built a rack with rubbermaid 4636 shoeboxes that seemed to work fairly well. My only complaint with rubbermaids or sterilites is that the boxes have raised bumps on the bottom which cause them to not come in contact with the flexwatt heattape and so the heattape has to be run hotter to heat the bin. My first question is are bins that lay flat on the shelf better because they're in contact with the flexwatt or should the two not touch? Recently I went to a couple stores to find some more rubbermaid 4636 shoeboxes but realized they were no longer stocked, instead there was a new model that had taken their place, same basic size, but different shape and no longer compatible with my rack. I want to be able to use a rub that will house geckos and small snakes, and if the tub is interchangeable with another tub (i.e. 1 larger tub or 2 smaller tubs in the same amount of space) then all the better.

Thanks

Most people seem to think it is good to have some air space so the heat can spread and not be too hot in one spot
