Grumpy Ball

tempo Dec 03, 2009 11:04 PM

I'm not a breeder; just a small reptile hobbyist.

I have a question on my late '08 Spider male. He's gotten so grumpy!

His temperatures are correct and he's eating wonderfully as usual. But he's been peaking his head out his hide, constantly in an s-position which looks aggressive. If I come close to his tank, he keeps his s-position and looks as if he's trying to strike! He's actually only striked at the glass once and has never bitten me. If I go to pick him up, he doesn't actually try to bite, but just keep that position.

He's been doing this since the weather changed and only at night.

Any ideas?

My spider does the same thing right now,i fead him a med rat friday and monday he was in a s like u said when i was feeding another snake. He was just out of his hide like that so i threw a small rat in and he ate it it must trigger a feeding thing in the brain or weather change to bulk up for cool mths. I notice hes like that all the time when im close to cage.

My snakes do that somethimes but only during feeding time because they can smell the mice thawing snd they see u moving around which triggers a strike so they get aggressive
