Thanks or this link. It was easy and quick. So far for the addition of boas 6 for it and 17 against and the ban of pythons so far 17 against. I thought there were millions of us. I know I could not imagine my free time with out My animals. Thanks to everyone for all the ways they are supporting.

It seems a circular process....and a bit confusing. My vote was never officially acknowledged, but it went through as far as I can tell.

The numbers changed as soon as I voted, so you might want to go back and vote again. It was a little annoying, but I was finally able to get my vote it, after I logged in at least 10 times.

How many owners/hobbiests are there that want to join in the fight but can't because they live under these types of circumstances.

I also wrote Senator Nelson. I was very polite.

and shows good news. 6 people supporting but 13 on our side! seems like favorable odds to me. I just wish it showed the names of the 13 opposers like it does the 6 supporters.

I went to the page, opened an account, went to e-mail, followed link, then whenever I got back to this page, it asked me to sign in again, REPEATEDLY. Ended up having to do an advanced search listed off to the side of my login, then type in 373, and open it up from there. 54/7 now

LarM Dec 04, 2009 11:39 PM

That kept happening to ma as well 6 hours ago

You have to put S373 on your track list or least that's what I did
Then it allowed me to vote without signing me out

Don't forget to use Facebook to get the message out!! This is just another attempt by the HSUS to impose their wack job agenda on millions of Americans, I think part of the message is that if they are successful with reptiles then they can also shut down other pets too, and yes that means breeding dogs and cats by private citizens. Never forget who is behind this stuff and tell everyone!

CGibbs Dec 06, 2009 09:38 PM

I just worked through the kinks & cast my vote. Currently:
8 in Favor
281 Oppose

I posted the link on our Arizona Herpetological Association (AHA) website (www.azrepiles.com) and asked our members & guests to do likewise. Please forward it to all the herpetological society forums you know. Our AHA board meets Tuesday night and we'll discuss plans to further spread the word in our state & make sure our Senators are aware of our stance as a non-profit org comprised of many private breeders.

If you plan on leaving feedback on the opencongress website, PLEASE be respectful and focus on essential themes (education, science, the economy, personal rights, etc...) Please, do NOT "vent" or paint the reptile nation in a negative light!

In this together,
Chuck Gibbs, CFP

SgtStinky Dec 07, 2009 04:29 PM

good point, although it is sooo easy to vent.

OK, major PITA but still probably worth the effort....

First you have to register, only need a email account, they don't even ask for a name. Go to...

www.opencongress.org/register

Enter userid, password twice, valid email address and don't forget to click accept TOS. A email will be sent to your email account with a clickable link to register your userid.

Click on link in email they send you back and go to

www.opencongress.org/

(please note, the prior and next few steps are a combination of memory and going back and redoing it after many unsuccesful tries, I hope I have it close enough and please let me know if you find a better way)

Click on login in upper right corner and log in....

Note that it says welcome "your userid" in that same upper right corner when you have successfully logged in....

Your current URL should be....

Easiest way to get there I found is type "bill/type/s/13" onto the end of the existing URL so now is....
Http://www.opencongress.org/bill/type/s/13 (that is bill/type=Senate/page 13 (where 373 is)

Click on S.373....

Now you should be able to vote and track the bill....

THEN....

Scroll down towards the bottom of the page where ....

Users opposing S.373 are also:

And you can click on HR2811 and HR669 and oppose them as well

Yahoooooooooo............love the site. Even though I consider myself plugged in missed that one big time. I'm surprised someone hasn't already mentioned the fact that the vast majority of introduced bills never ever become laws. Some of those in congress have sponsored and/or co-sponsored hundreds of bills that never became laws. With just a quick scan it looks like only 5%-10% of introduced bills actually become laws, that's if I'm reading it right. Oh well as said earlier great site and did my voting too. Take care and happy holiday's. Andrew

McCarthyBoas Dec 05, 2009 12:09 PM

Come on people, this is disappointing!! There are only 90 opposed to this as of Saturday 12/05/09 at 12:08 pm. CST??? There are thousands of us, and it only takes a few minutes to do this.

This link is posted on several forums and it's pathetic that only 90 votes oppose it as of now. Everyone has posted how they don't want to lose there boas and pythons. This is your chance to stand up and really do something, and not just take a backseat. This can't be any easier, please just take the time to click a few clicks and do it.

Take care
Tom

I worry when I read this type legislation as to where our nation is headed. I think of what our forefathers would say? What would they think of a country that has gone from home of the free and brave to house of the extremes. We eradicate a pet snake loved by millions? when did we become that country? We kill ourselves daily with polutants both put in our bodies and released to the atmosphere, but the big corps line our "leaders" pockets which in turn they find it necessary to justify their existence and pick on us the little guy via laws like this. Boas and Pythons happen to be a docile pet, much like birds and is a hobby no different than painting or golfing. I think a better law could be a ban on golf as it has proven the over building of enormous golf courses has displaced many U.S. fauna, lets see if Senator Nelson and his cronies ever write that into law. Mr. Nelson you should be ashamed and all those for this bill. Forcing your views without facts- thats dictatorship!Shameful!
