well...went to another show yesterday...typical stuff...NO real milks....well...just the normal campbell -sina -hondo- hondo -hondo stuff........did see one central plain milk it said...looked almost like a pale....hmmm...would have traded for it but he wouldn't do it...?...he missed on that deal.....it was female...but again , NO locality on it so I didn't really care....

but hey, Schofield........I did have a choice of all the orange worms I wanted...tables had them all over the place....noone actually buys them I guess....so I fealt bad....hmmmm....well....I'll do it....I'll buy some...I actually looked at them 3 times....so , what the heck....I'll take this and this- and this one...three....tri-color hondos...not even VP oranges....tri colored....hmmmm.....aaaand when putting them into their new boxes....the one female squirted and squirted and squirted brown and wet and white all around for three feet....and I then realized once again....why I hate hondos.....LOL....

........maybe I'll send them northward...????

........actually that's about it...I never find any good milks at PA shows.....sucks......couldn't find any balls in female that I wanted...picked up an 08 sable female....and the drive home...aaaaa the snow.....

have fun ....

I am a East Coast guy(Boston)and I haven't many good show options. I like keeping east coast stuff, and most times--no make it all time--they wont let me sell endemnic species, legal,m cb or whatever. So you see most of my stuff through my notoriously bad pics in the classifieds, thats it. So I was thinking about going to a WEST COAST show. Are there any decent ones, good crowds, reasonable tables? What kind of interest is there in NA milks out there? It seems most milkheads not named Shannon are on the East coast...

Jeff Schofield Dec 07, 2009 02:35 PM

I mean, are you serious? In the EVENTS page there are 197 events from now til December 2010....and only 2(!!) in Cali!!! Look it up, it seems like there is a show monthly in KY, WV, AL and more than that in the NY-SC corridor...yet only a handful in the west...2 in OR and 1 in WA & NV. Let me be the first to say it, I think us East Coast guys should all go WEST next year in unison with our East coast stuff! I know everyone "does" Daytona, but maybe for the 2nd tier breeders like myself...combining a mini vaca with a west coast show where I can actually sell everything I produce...might be alot more fun than the same old same old in NY,PA or MD..Think about it! Everyone except you TX people that is,LMAO!

JYohe Dec 07, 2009 06:07 PM

I think they meant wild milks out west?

....shows......um..there is probably 2 a week around here?...they added 8 more near here for this year....and more just south around Va/ Dc areas I hear...?...didn't look yet....
TOO many shows now...really....I used to do the 2 shows near here...(that's 2 for the year) and sell all 150 snakes or so I made for the year.....(then take cash and go to Bell's table and buy 6 or 8 snakes...LOL.....not right man not right...)....

.......the one central plains I saw was at a dealer's table...they don't care where it's from.....more than likely got it for $20 or less.....

.........road trip?.......yea.....wonder who would ....ummm...nevermind.....NO Thanxx....................

I'd say most breeders are more or less like you. The problems with shows is the BUSINESSES. Their tables are tax write offs, they really dont care if they sell the animals on their tables or not. They dont care if they lose money on the table or not, and its us small-mid size breeders who now have to pay higher table prices because of it. I know a couple vendors at the NH show that have brought the exact same snakes show after show, year after year! They bring "space fillers" for all the "holes" in their fancy setups but really only sell one thing at the show.....like feeders or inverts or corns or stuff that would more likely be FOOD than kept as a pet.
With all the shows in the PA/MD/NY area I would like to see a "BREEDERS ONLY" show. No trans shippers,Big names limited to 2 tables,no dry goods, no inverts, just good old fashioned SWAP MEET style. I think breeders should try and wrestle some control back from these businesses, who go around and lowball breeders at the end of shows because they have a show every weekend and the breeder doesnt. Oh well, lets see these followups.
BTW, its been a while since I saw a $20 gentilis, you are OLD,lol.

JYohe Dec 08, 2009 04:14 PM

.......alot of snakes are sold between breeders

.......tax write offs???.....huh....

.......don't need to sell...I do...tables are now up $5 more bucks.....as of now....$75 here.....lighting sucks, space...none....bathrooms...yea...nevermind...parking...none....etc etc.....HA!......anyways./....

........no dry goods?...no crickets?...no spiders and cork and fake plants and rocks and dead stuff and fossils and books and spiders and spiders and rocks and wood and wood and mice and rats and mice mice mice mice mice rats rats rats gerbils hamstersmice gerbilratratratratrat.........you get the idea...

what would people buy without this stuff,.....that's what they buy....crickets,some frozen mice for a week or so supply till next show.....a baby duck and a snow cone.......yep....snow cones $5- yet amel corns set there and won't sell at $5 each....really...it's that bad....

$20 gentilis....what do you think they wholesale at in trade?...I'd bet....most kings are $10...GOOD kings and all $20.....corns...$3....balls (USA born).. $8......het albino female balls $25....het ghost or amel or anything ball MALES $8....and less...bullsnakes any color on the table...were $20....(not my table)....good milks $25 ....wholesale....you won't like to wholesale ....really...you'd quit and let them critters go on an island somewhere....this is where we are at now....

........anyways......I am just letting you know how it REALLY is.....and there are 4 times as many shows as we need/want....
but it's America and you can have all the shows you want to...free trade.....suxx........I just saw there is one show almost twice a month at the same location...who the hey....???

....so anyways...my plan is to keep breeding all I can....and keep upgrading the quality as much as possible throughout the years.....and breed what I want to and like to on top of that.....
have to...that's why I have all the new little bitty baby milk makers lined up for the future years....aaaaahhhh.....I need a table that sells mouse tails and lizard tails by the hundred.....thousand.....(maybe I should do that...sell all the mice and tails seperatley.>>???....hmmmm.....

Its because there are all these shows that ONE show should eliminate the crap.....make itself different. I know I would pay $10 instead of $5 to go to such a show, one that eliminated the tire kickers AND the wholesalers.....lets include a height minimum and eliminate strollers too!

JYohe Dec 09, 2009 03:45 PM

show is $8 to get in......LOL....

....do the math......75$ x 220 tables
....3000 people....(say 2000 x $8)....
.....6 times a year...

that's just one.....

....they won't stop....they make $

....anyways......let's go fishing instead..........

Just make sure he doesn't try using any Hondo hatchlings again as bait when ya go. The next time he gets caught by the authorities doing this, every person on his boat will get all their animals confiscated, and will do one(1) year in jail.

LOL!!!!!

Seriously, its December, its obvious why you cant get NA milks. First, breeders know not to produce too many because they dont want to be "stuck" with problem feeders. Second, they arent in high enough demand($$)to hold that much rack space. Third, with the laws the way they are, endemnic species arent allowed in most shows. Fourth, relating to laws, most areas Gentilis are found are now restricted, so I suggest that is as much reason why non-locale Gentilis are more plentiful. More than anything, this tells me that relative prices for NA milks are too low. Them foriegn worms have had their day in the sun, NA milks are making a comeback! About time!
