does my veiled have an upper respiratory infection???

sweetgurrl22 Sep 18, 2003 04:44 PM

I have a 5 month old male veiled. Lately he has been gapping his mouth open. Its not because he is not because he does it when hes no in his basking spot. Also, I am not making him mad because he does it not even looking at me. He is eating good and is hydrated. I have noticed that he hasnt been moving around as much but still some. We just put in a hibiscus not even a week ago. do you all think he might have an infection or could it be something else???? Thanks

A crackling sound when he breathes, holding his head tipped upwards to help him breathe better, stringy mucous inside his mouth, wandering around the cage at night restlessly and not assuming a sleeping position. Have you checked the cage temps throughout the entire cage. Maybe the cage is just hot and uncomfortable for him. Also check that humidity is right.
I will post a photo of my humidity and temperature guage. I got it at a Radioshak but they have them at Walmart too.
