Breeding questions?

LeeFobes Sep 18, 2003 04:55 PM

How big do the BP's have to be in oreder to breed? if you breed 2 normals (pet shop CB's) what do you think you would come up with? just a couple questions, me and my friend wanna breed ours, mine is in top shape, but i dont think his is (3 feet long, lives in a crappy @$$ environment, i tell him what to do but he wont fix it up...also lives in a 10gal aquarium) i might not even breed mine with his...just a thought.

i would suggest you don't breed your snake with his. a 3ft snake in a small ten gallon tank. that i don't think is very good. i've read up and been told that the bigger the living space the happier the snake. now by breeding 2 normal snakes will get you more normal looking pythons. but you never know just what you might get. you could go to a pet store and buy a ball python anywhere from $20-$100 and get a pair. then when you breed them you come out with a striped baby, or getting crazy here and albino. it's always random but more often than not you'll get normal looking babies. now the size of the snake would be roughly around 800 grams for a male and about 1300 grams for a female. i just weighed my female yesterday and she about 1700 grams right now and in the middle of a shed. then my large boy is about 1800-2000 grams. i need to see just how much he weighs but he's around 4-4 1/2 lbs. (anyone good with math here?). i hope this info helps and if anyone else would like let me us know if i left anything out.

Where did you read that BS?

1. Breed normals get normals, THATS IT.....

2. Males can breed at 400 grams, females are said to be ready when they near 1400 grams.

3. Balls can be easily stressed in an enclosure that is to large.
