Shedding and Water questions (veilds)

thecid Sep 18, 2003 04:56 PM

My veiled chameleon is going through the shedding process (the first one since ive had her) and i was wondering if there is anything special to do. Ive been keeping the humidity up by misting, and i think its going good. She had just started this morning, and id say shes about half done now.

Also, when i misted her yesterday, she attacked dripping water like it was a cricket. Did she make a mistake, or is this how they drink?

-many thanks!

You are exactly right.. just keep the humidity up, and get that skin nice and moist a few times a day.

Only after the shed is completed, I will check on the chameleon at night and see if any problem areas of shed skin exist.

What do i do if there are "problem areas"?

If there is a problem area (ex: small patch of skin left on the head)
I take a Q-Tip and warm water, and keep dabbing the patch of skin. Keep doing it until the skin is saturated. Eventually, you can use the Q-tip to loosen the patch and remove it.
