Unusual Dec.2 litter

DanL Dec 08, 2009 03:54 PM

Hi everyone. It's been a long time since I have posted on here but I had an interesting litter last week so I thought I would share some pictures with you. These first ones are of the parents.
Some of you might remember Aroura, the one I'm holding, she was produced by Tim Fraizer 6 and a half years ago. This picture is about 2 years old. The other pictures are of one of her offspring from 2006 that I bred back to her. I still have not named him.

Congrats, that looks like blush phase babies, I have a pair up to size for breeding this year, will be interesting to see how those babies look, blush x blush.

That last one is quite interesting.

Dave, I'm guessing that one of your blush phase is Amber? She should produce some real stunners.

I had one of my prettiest adult males loose all of his red and yellow coloration last summer. The change happened pretty much over night. He is now brown with white cresents with a few white scales scatterd on his back and a small white stripe on top of his head. Another Fluffy? I'll post pictures latter.

Well, Amber is what I call an eclipse phase, no crescten color at all. She does have some lightening toward the middle but not actual crescent colors. My BRB's Lon and Lily are what I call blush phase where the crescent is sprinkeld around and inside the dark side spots.
Lily..

Lon..

Hmmm, sounds possible, how old was he when the change happened?

Ok, I guess I have lots of blush phase and maybe a couple of eclips phase in this litter.

The snake that changed color was about 2 years and 9 months old when he changed. I'll post pics in a new thread soon.

I have exactly the same thing going on with a female I acquired last year, she is about three years old and her crecents have turned white, her pattern on her back is now almost all outlined with white, and marking on her face are turning white! Exciting times with rainbows!! Congrats on your litter, they are fantastic looking animals!!

Hi Jeff, How long has this change been taking place? The white on the head and the back sound really interesting! can you post pictures?

very interesting pictures, bet you be holding back a few!!
here is one of mine with roughly the same markings
i have a group of 2.5 like this, and these too came from normal patterned parents
they will be ready to breed next year
they are also 66% poss het of a new european line of hypo (if it is indeed an inheritable trait, assuming its recessive also)

Hi Dave. I'm going to try and limit myself to only keeping 3 or 4 from this litter but it's going to be hard, there are just so many with interesting markings. I have not posted in a long time but I still read the posts occasionally, you have a really nice collection. Dan
