Orlando,
Congrats again on your subflavus. Keep posting pics!
Thanks,
Ed
Tom,
Thanks go to you then also!! I was wondering about the orange color. From the little information I could find on the web, they seem to be more yellow in the wild. I read that they are actually called "the yellow snake" down in Jamaica.
Thanks for the picture of the older subflavus, that is one beautiful snake.
Thanks,
Ed

Thanks Tom, that's more like what I see when I do an websearch on subflavus. Just curious, is the orange morph locale specific (ie, like the Dominican Mountain boas), or do they just pop up randomly?
Also, any tips on feeding would be appreciated. I'm not worried yet, but I didn't think my baby subflavus would refuse a live anole after shedding and not eating for 16 days. The anole came closer to eating her than she did the anole.
The anole bit her on the nose. Again, I'm not worried yet, just wondering if I may be missing something.
Thanks again for the pics, always great to see these guys.

In the old days another Jamaican name for them was " Nanka". I have NO idea what that means...

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ninki_Nanka
"A Ninki Nanka is a legendary creature based in West African folklore. Descriptions of the creature vary, but most contend that the animal is reptilian and possibly dragon-like. According to tradition, the Ninki Nanka lives in the swamps of West Africa. The animal is said to be extremely large and very dangerous. It is said that when a child gets too confident and feels they can disobey their parents and go into the swamp they will be taken by the Ninki Nanka. This creature's tales were never recorded in any sort of non-modern text but the story of it has spread from tribe to tribe all over Africa. There is a song called Ninki Nanka on the album Casamance au clair de lune (1984) by the Senegalese music group Touré Kunda."
