Corey already answered that.

i asked if i should spray it on his head also, and i dont trust the opinion of one person. your not accomplishing anything by saying that.

Not saying he's the almighty but corey's thoughts on ball pythons can be quite trustworthy

maiden_canada Sep 18, 2003 09:28 PM

ok so do i spray it on his head then and all around in the cage? or avoid his head and use a q-tip on it. i dont think the 2nd one would work very well he freaks out a bit if i go near his head.

Put it in a spray bottle and spray it on the snake (all over) and the whole cage as well. Make sure you give everything a good spray every couple of days for the first week and then about once a week for another couple weeks.

Good luck<

Your previous post said to dump a bottle of NiX in a gallon of water. Does Nix only come in one size? What size bottle (how many ounces) should be mixed with a gallon of water? BTW I've used Sevin dust for many years to good effect.

1 bottle does a gallon. Yes it only comes in one bottle. If you want less, do the fraction and figure out your volume.

Forgive my ignorance, having never had the opportunity to use the product, I haven't the faintest idea what size the bottles are. Could you supply that info in either oz. or ml. please?

It's hard to do the math without the numbers.

Thank you

2 fl. oz = 1 gallon h2o

maiden_canada Sep 19, 2003 12:16 AM

ok im dumb, then how much water do you mix with a 50ml bottle, thats what i have

mykee Sep 19, 2003 12:26 AM

Same as above, one gallon.

mykee Sep 19, 2003 12:27 AM

a 16:1 ratio. 16 parts water to one part Nix.

colby Sep 19, 2003 12:39 AM

How many ounces are in a gallon?

mykee Sep 19, 2003 12:44 AM

Ah, you're right, my ratio was WAY off!! Thanks, the PROPER ratio should be 1:64.

A quick perusal online indicates that there is more than one Nix product marketed, in different sizes with different concentrations of the insecticide Permethrin. I see a two ounce product with 1% Permethrin and a 5 ounce product with 0.25% Permethrin. There may be others. I didn’t research any further.

I received your e-mail and tried to respond, it got kicked back to me. Clean out your hotmail account. Also, I would take Corey's advice on anything he says. He's a god among men.......

I have had great success using NIX in eradicating mites and the last time I had mites was 5 years ago... I continue to use Nix once every two weeks, using it to spray down the cage then wiping it down. My formula was half bottle of Nix for 1 gallon of water and it worked great. When I had mites, I would use NIX daily, spraying on the snake, inside the cage, and outside the cage. I would continue this for two weeks then after two weeks, I would use NIX every other day for two more weeks along with spraying whole lot of Nix onto paper towel then lightly wipe the snake.then thats it... No more mites ever since.... I also found them to be effective with ticks too... Whenever I get farm-hatched babies with ticks, I would pull the ticks off that I can find, then spray them down and next day find whole lot more ticks that I missed on the paper towel crawling around. Whatever advice Corey gives, I would be more than happy to take it and try it. He knows more than I do when it comes to snakes, but just offering you my experience and what works for me. Yes NIX comes in one size....
