EVERYONE has to help fight this Ban....

Oz Dec 10, 2009 07:07 PM

If you dont have time... donate money to USARK and PIJAC.

If you don't have money donate time....

If you have both, donate both...

This fight is not over yet. This bill is flawed on so many levels and we need to highlight these flaws and challenge it with facts. Contact your local representatives and provide them with the facts. We have the truth on our side.

I agree 100%! Everyone has something to give whether it's finacial or your time. We have a good chance of beating this on two levels, we can get enough votes to defeat it. Or second when this bill gets bundled into a bunch of bills to be passed at the samne time, which it will. We can educate enough senators that they feel the only way to pass the other bills is to drop s373, that can be our victory as well. We have to educate them on the damage this can do to all of us. From breeders, to rodents suppliers, to rubbermaid boxes, etc... If we can get them to see the entire picture as well as make them realize that this is a Florida problem that can be solved on a state level then we might be able to beat this! Remember we need to be polite and informed! Brian(BHB)

Yes, yes, one-hundred times, YES.

It's not over guys, not by a longshot. Do everything you can and don't give up the fight. We have to work together and get as many people to oppose this as we can. I'm sure some of you are sick of hearing it over and over, but I cannot stress this enough. It is absolutely crucial that we do not let this pass! Regardless of what species you keep, it WILL effect all of us.

You state that we need to unite to fight this. You were very quick to throw Florida under the bus by stating that it is Florida's problem.

Throw Florida under the bus? The "problem" does truly only exist in Florida. It's an ecological issue and nothing more. What they're attempting to do is ridiculous. I don't get what it is you're attempting to argue about.

I am sitting here in Michigan looking out the window at the snow and seeign the weather on the computer is 11 degress or with windchill it is -10 degrees. Do you think we have to worry about invasive burmese pythons or any other reptiles setting up shop here? The equalivant of saying "they are becoming a problem in florida so lets ban them in the entire country" is saying "well you stubbed your toe, lets cut off your head".

Brian said that this is a Florida problem so it sounds like he is saying it is OK to ban them in Florida.I do realize that the problem is in FL,but I don't feel it is OK that he says we need to unite and then sound like he is OK with a ban in FL.We don't need this to happen in any state!!!

NO, no, I never said we should throw Florida under the bus. We should let Florida pass responsible laws that would protect the environment and welfare of the people. That does not mean I support a ban. I believe that they have already taken care of the problem with the law that was passed to permit and micro-chip these animals. I don't see any reason for any further legislation beyond that. But it is still a State problem and not something that the entire country should be dealing with. Thanks, Brian(BHB)

When you have Senators and Representatives that have already questioned why this isn't simply a FL legislation then yes WE should have capitalized on that along with shooting it down completely. It's not throwing them under the bus it's limiting damages by realistic expectations - they would still have to have the laws passed in their state. And lets face the number of states that don't have Burms ensconced in their Everglades far outweighs the one that does.

Plus by allowing them to make this a national legislation it's not only going to stunt the industry but now after declaring his victory Senator Nelson is proposing legislation to bypass that 4 years of scientific research the USFW takes to add animals to the Lacey Act. That puts EVERYTHING on the USHS or PETA list in jeopardy because they finally found a Senator Ho they can use.

Just my two cents.
