Can we fund a COMMERCIAL??? USARK?

calirepguy Dec 11, 2009 12:14 PM

Maybe USARK or someone can set up a specific account for donations for a national TV and/or Radio commercial(s) in support of our cause?

I sure would fork over some $ for that!

Unfortunately, it seems the more publicity this gets, the worse for us. I think a commercial would be counterproductive, to say the least.

The public at large does not understand or approve of exotic snake keepers-by a wide margin.

Brad, without saying too much...
It depends on what you say, how you say it and who you write it for.
Also, mainstream media is expensive. There are other ways.

And I agree.

When I'm out shooting my rifle, I always make sure to aim for the right target-otherwise the result can be....counterproductive

I agree, I do not want to try to convince the HSUS and the reptile haters, I want to educate the public and inform all the other pet keepers of what they have to look forward to if they succeed in taking our snakes.

Thank you for the posts.

Exactly. Good analogy.
And you don't always use the same round, or even the same type of gun. Sometimes it's not even a gun, but a bow. Depends on what you're hunting. It's the same with getting a message across. You have to identify the different types of people you want to target and the you have to decide what is important to THEM. That will tell you what need to say.

Brad, I do not agree. It is due to not informing people and hiding in the shadows of the pet keeping world that got us here. I will have my facts and my opinions heard in every forum and venue I can find!

we do need a public arena to imprint the correct image of who we are.

I would like to add that I am very PROUD and IMPRESSED with how we are coming together and learning how to represent "who we are". It is most important from now on to understand that our actions affect all of us. On any and all public forums etc, it is most important to understand anyone can and does look at how we present ourselves. Let’s raise the bar and continue to "rise to the occasion".

Hello, Being a huge fan of National Public Radio makes me think what's happening with us would make a great story. Anyone here tight with anyone at NPR who has clout. Maybe if enough of us e-mail them about the situation it could sway them to investigate. Just a thought. Also it might be worth while to contact your local community radio station(if your lucky enough to have one) and inform them of the situation, asking if they might be willing to help. Again just me rambling. Take care. Andrew
