Let's All Move...

...to Florida!

I wonder what would happen if all reptile owners in the U.S. - in the tens of millions - suddenly moved to Florida and became a dominant electoral force. We would be immune to the interstate provisions of the Lacy Act, we could vote Sen. Bill Nelson out of office and elect our own Senators, Representatives, Governor, etc.

I've noticed that those who like the sunbelt fall into two camps-Fl/CA people and TX/NM/AZ types-and each group wouldn't be caught dead living in the other's region! So we should pick one state from each.

Florida over California-for the obvious reason that the reptile idustry already has a huge presence there, plus the other reasons in the above post.

Texas over NM and AZ-Because Texas also has a huge reptile community already, has regions that are warmer year-round than the other two, and has a mostly favorable political climate (despite a couple of recent setbacks).

So, who wants to start organizing this migration?

I am down with migrating out of California. Tough to leave Santa Cruz, though, but if my constrictor collection keeps growing PETA or Inhumane Society of the United States will drive me out anyway. I say Florida or Texas, some place with a coast. And sharks, I love em.

Another thought though. It is good for us to be present every where in the United States and be ready to educate and influence everywhere we can. As well as stay unified. People just have to stop hating on reptiles and reptile people. On another note, if Nat Geo says HR2811 is wrong then it is wrong.

Born here, living here Can we select at least one northern state though? I actually love the cold and snow after living in the Rockies for a few years...maybe Wyoming or Idaho?
