Try something REALLY far out and cool, and breed the Honduran to another Honduran, and a Yellow Ratsnake to the other Yellow Ratsnake!

Or at the VERY, VERY least, talk about it over on the hybrid forum, which is exactly where the conversation belongs.

To be honest though, if you cannot even tell which snake is a male and which is a female, it doesn't sound at all to me that you should be doing any breeding of any kind yet until you get much more snake experience under your belt. I don't mean this in a negative way at all either, just some friendly advice.

The whole process of producing a bunch of young babies to feed, and their proper maintanance and housing is quite a challenge actually, and costs a fair amount of money too. This can be a whole bunch of not so fun work, believe me.

Many people want to simply breed things without giving very serious thought to the consequences.

With adult ratsnakes, it is pretty obvious what sex they are - by tail length, width, and shape. Males have longer, thicker tails, which taper much more gradually than females' tails.

thanks for not being such a jerk like everyone else on this website. ive noticed that males tales are usually really long. and the females are all really short.

People aren't being jerks when they point out that you are posting your question on the wrond forum. Doug was even nice enoughf to point you to the correct forum.

If you quickly want to learn about sexing rat snakes, then visit Kathy Love's site. She has some good how to's posted there.

As far as looking at the tails, yes, that works a good bit of the time, but probing is still the only methor that is 100%.

Questions like this belong in the hybrid forum.

I'm not trying to discurage you, but if you need help sexing your snakes, then you are not ready to be breeding them...ESPECIALLY hybrids.

By the way, are you aware the the snake in your photo is a young racer?
