R.I. Pointers

I had my main heater goin out in my snake room for a day or so before I noticed it and I got it fixed asap; however, this weekend when I went to feed and I was looking more closely at my animals i noticed 4 of my breeder females were slightly foaming at the mouth. I quickly diagnosed it as respiratory Infectionn and I uped my temps a little more and gave the females a soak to up their humidity, i have been keeping a close eye on them and when i checked this morning they did not seem to be blowing bubbles, but they are still weezing. It also looks like they are doing most of their breather through their nose and do not seem to be sitting with their mouth open like mild cases of RI. I know that I have cought this infection at a very young stage now the question that I have to ask is at what point do I take them to the vet? A part of me thinks that the infection seems to be backing off a little (even though I know that this is really to early to tell) but it I think it is very possible that these animals could over come this on their own, but then on the other hand I take a lot of pride in have healthy and good quality animals, so should I just take them to the vet?

This is the first time I have had r.i. in my collection but I have also done a lot of studing on this in the past, I just thought I would ask you since you guys have more experience to see what your thoughts are.

Thanks,
Matt

If they were bubbling at the mouth then you didn't really catch it early. And you might knock it back to where you think it's gone but it will most likely come back if not properly treated. Could you treat it at home without antibiotics - perhaps, depending on a lot of variables. If you choose to forgo the vet and antibiotic route - at the least once you think you've got it kicked - take them in to the vet and have them swabbed to be sure.

Good luck.

As of right now I am keeping a close eye on them but I have contacted my vet in case they take a turn for the worse so I can bring them in.
