My 1st BP ovulation! Help please!

CaliRepGuy Dec 14, 2009 12:28 PM

OK. This is my first BP breeding ever. My male pied started breeding my female pied (many confirmed locks) in early September through late November. The female pied just spent 24 hours in contortions/muscle contractions and is now happily and calmly coiled over the mid range of my heat. Cold side is 74 and hot side is 84-85 degrees. She is thick!

What now? More heat? Is she now 45 days or so from laying? Should I expect a pre lay shed cycle soon?

Thank you

Kevin

Hey Kevin,a female should be kept at a constant 85degrees with a hot spot seems to be the ticket.I provide nesting boxes where she can hide.Ovulation time u will see the female go into a preegg laying shed, occurs 9-15 days after ovulation, then u will see eggs laid 25-36 days after shed, but could be longer just keep a eye on her.And do not feed.Need more info let me know and congrads
