Hatchling, Juvenile, Adult...

montypython_42 Dec 14, 2009 09:13 PM

Hey everyone!

I have a random question for you all. At what age does the term "juvenile" and "adult" apply? I've just assumed that a snake is considered a juvenile around the age of two months until it reaches sexual maturity and then it becomes an adult. Am I close? Way off?

After a few hundred grams I feel awkward calling them hatchlings so they become juvies after which they become subadults which is that stage right before they are big enough to breed and they usually hit that feeding wall - and then adults which are solid mature breedable animals. But yeah there doesn't seem to be a standard - I get a good laugh out of what some people list as "adults" in the classifieds.

I figured that's how it worked. I've seen snakes that were being sold as "adults" that I still personally considered "sub-adults" or "juveniles", as they were only a little over a year and obviously hadn't bred yet.

yea..."adult 850 GRAM female"...

....UM....adult 3500 grams maybe...LOL...ok...I'll give them 1250......IF it's over 24 months old....

12 months and 1400 grams still isn't a good adult...it's a big juvie...

..it's all how much they want to lie...I mean sell stuff ....
