I finally learnt how to download photos!! For some reason I had to use a different user name!! I quess I aint the brightest bulb in the package LOL!! Thought I would snap a couple of pics while doing herp chores. Here is a yearling 50/50 desert phase cal king female I acquired last summer. She has some Joshua Tree lineage in her.

I have 1.2 of those. Mine are Osborne stock. They do have some Joshua Tree locality in them, but they are about three other localities too so are not locality snakes. But they are real nice to look at. I like the crown marking on yours. Thats a good one. Thanks for posting it.

Kevin, can you post a pic of the snake in the background of the pic to the left? I like the sock on the head look of it. Neat the way it has a white face and a black crown and hood on it.

She is a bit of a looker and one of the best on a herper friend of mines table when I got her. She was a pain to get feeding, but is a hoss now. The male is just a little generic black and white I picked up at a local show last winter. He was the only male I could find at the time. He isnt a high white or 50/50, but his color is good. I figured he would make a good mate for the female down the road and mix some things up a bit genetically. I will try to post a pic of him later tonight.

My male feeds great but one of the females is still being a pain. The other female I had to tease feed the first time. Agfter that she went on to feed like a pig. I wish the other female would get to going. Sometimes it takes time though.

I look forward to seeing a pick of the male. I think he looks good from what I can see of him.

The male has always fed great for me. It must be something about the line the female comes from. Another friend of mine got a high white female this year from the same guy I got my female from last year. My buddy also had a hard time getting his female to feed as well. The guy we got the females from produces some stunning black and white cal kings. The belly on my female has a high percentage of white as well, and there is no yellowing in her white pattern that I can see.

This is the little male desert phase cal king. Not the best photo, but gives you an idea of his face markings.

I like him. He has that nice large black area on the head/neck and the one white spot you tend to see on the better looking ones in the wild. A lot of areas where yopu find the real good black and white bandeds they tend to have the one white dot marking and some white on the face like that.
It will be neat to see what the babies they make will look like.

Thanks Eric. It was suggested to me to get a high white male to pair with my female as she has good white genetics in her. However, I am not that overly fond of the high whites. To me, the black is just as important as the white in exemplifying this phase of cal king. I hope they make nice babies next year or year after as well!!
