how much to feed

Shupey Sep 18, 2003 08:56 PM

Hi;

I am the proud owner of a new leopard gecko. I would say its around 3-4 months old. I was wondering if it is possible to overfeed them? She (i think) eats like a pig. When i first got her about a month ago she would eat 6-8 crickets a day (and probably more if I offered more). I have since scaled it back to 4 crickets and 1 mealworm each day which she eats immediatly. Am i doing the right thing or should I keep giving her food until she ignores it? She seems very healthy. Any advice on feeding would be appreciated. Thanks

Personally, I feed my leos as much as they will eat, and for the year that ive had leos it has worked ! I recommend to feed it until it stops eating !

Thanks for the info. Should I be doing this everyday or every other day now? Also i dust the crickets and mealworms with Zoo Med's Reptivite. Is this sufficient or should I be using some other type of suppliment as well? Thanks

I feed mine everyday until they are about 40 or so grams. If they are not hungry they just wont eat. If they over eat they will through it up. I use miner-all for my suppliment stuff and it works great. I know a lot of people use a different variety off stuff. I also keep a bowl of mealies in at all time in my leo cages with some miner-all in it just in case they are hungry.
