Breeding Womas. Cannot find information!

catenifer Dec 18, 2009 02:17 AM

Hello,

I have searched the web fairly extensively looking for information regarding woma python breeding. I have also searched the forum here but have had only minimal luck.

I am looking for the very specific, but basic, husbandry info. That is, what time of year to begin cooling, at what temperature, for how long, when to introduce after warming them back up, etc. etc. If anyone can post their formula here, or direct me to past posts or websites, I would very much appreciate it.

Thanks for your time!

One of the easiest pythons to breed. Just put them together, and leave them alone with a hide box. Doesn't get much easier.

Really? I have read how easy they are to breed, but I am sure it's not always successful, and perhaps some type of cycling may increase the chances of success. Do people ever alter temperatures, etc. when it comes to breeding these snakes, or is it always just put them together at any time of the year?

Thanks very much for your reply!

I only keep mine together during breeding season, and will do a slight cooldown. Other than that, the introduction of the male to the female during Oct-Feb seems to be enough. I leave him in for a week or so at a time.

Make sure if/when you get eggs, that you don't keep them too moist.
