Travel Cage for Dumeril's Boa

evan4770 Dec 18, 2009 10:23 AM

I have a 6-6.5 foot dumeril. I am working at a kids camp over the holidays. It is an "animals" camp so the kids are learning about all kinds of animals. This is the first time i am bringing a 25 pound snake anywhere for multiple days. I can't put the regular cage in the car and I was wondering what the minimum size cage she could be in for three-four days.

Thanks,
Evan

You're talking about a secretive snake that likes to cram itself into tight hiding spaces.

So, a sweaterbox, a cloth bag, etc. Just make sure the snake isn't exposed to extreme temps, cold or hot.

Thanks a lot. That is also what someone else said. Do you think a box 30in long x 21 in wide x 20 inches high is too small. She seems to fit in there ok

Probably just fine.

Just an FYI - This time of year many plastic storage containers are for sale. Not a bad idea to use a solid color box either. Drill some air holes (you don't need alot because storage boxes are not airtight anyway). If you have a stepped drill bit, use that - it makes the best holes in plastic.

I 2nd the idea of a colored sterilite tub, with the latches built on it for the lid, they're actually pretty secure.
