Aquarium sliding door mod?

Heatseaker Dec 18, 2009 01:02 PM

Hey all, I'v just inherited an odd sized glass tank, looks to be homemade, for which I can find no lid or hood, online or otherwise. So, I'd like to turn it on it's side and put glass/plexiglass sliding doors on it, as there is more floorspace like this, and it seems easier than than making an entire lid for the thing.

Is this cool to do? Will there be enough ventilation, and how do I run wires inside for the light? It's for a Fat Tailed Gecko, so it's going to be underheated, but still. Also it has no glass ledge things inside the rim, so I'd be putting a 2 inch strip of plexi/glass at the bottom to stop the substrate falling out. But then how do I attach the sliders? Just infront of the strip? Should I put a strip at the top too?

If anyone has done this before and could offer advice, or could say, "No that's a silly idea, don't be dumb!" I would appreciate it!
