How many go off feeding???

bigbearhook Dec 20, 2009 04:04 PM

I was wondering how many of you all have snakes that go off feeding during breeding season. I have put two males in with my adult female and since they have been locking up, all three have been off feeding during their rest periods. I have another male who hasn't been bred at all but has been off for 4 months. Is it normal for this during breeding season???

I would say that it depends a lot on where you are keeping your temps at.... if they are truly burmated then there should be no eating at all. If your temps are at normal with just a small night drop than you might have some eating but for the most part they tend to go off food while breeding......

It is normal for Ball Pythons to go off feed for a period of time, even if they haven't been bred. When i got my male Ball Python 5 years ago, he went off feed from November of that year, til the end of May. So it is definitely not uncommon for them to go off feed. My Ball was totally fine during that fast, and had sustained good weight during that period. He will begin to eat when he is good and ready, and as long as he is healthy and has good weight, he should do fine

I have 5 ball pythons that are breeding size.

All 5 went off feed. One female would eat once in a while, but she stopped.
