Turks and Caicos boa group photo

prprjp Dec 21, 2009 04:25 PM

Myself, Tom Crutchfield, Jeff Murray and Jay Wagner have put together a nice group of 2.4 adult Turks/Caicos boas, E. chrysogaster. Hopefully 2010 will be THE year and we get some babies

Starting to cool the group now and hoping to see some breeding activity early 2010.
Regards, Ryan

WOW, Ryan you're doing a GREAT JOB. It's been many years since the last time E. chrysogaster was bred here in the U.S. I last bred them in the early 1990's. It would be interesting to know who else is or has bred them....Thanks

Do you currently keep any insular boas?
Thanks, Ryan

Will both varients appear from this breeding, if all goes as planned? Thank you.

TOM_CRUTCHFIELD Dec 22, 2009 11:23 AM

Yes, I've bred Spotted phase and have gotten both Stripes and spots. They seem to be polymorphic. In some areas in Turks and Caicos you find more stripes than Spotted ones and vice versa. You also extremely rarely produce a complete patternless one with NO PATTERN AT ALL. They are solid silver blue with only a post ocular stripe and NO body pattern at all...NEONATES ARE TANGERINE ORANGE AS ARE EXUL AND GRACILIS...
