Boa's over 10 feet long

Hiss_N_Herps Dec 22, 2009 01:12 AM

S373 want's to add Boa Constrictors to the ROC list. I have been involved with constrictor species for quite some time. I know that much of the litersture states that B.C.C. get up to 14 feet but other than 1 or two posts on this wbsite in the past five years, I have yet to personally see any larger than 10 feet. I was wondering how many people out there actually have Boa Constrictors larger than 10 feet. I still don't undestrand how Boa Constrictors bear the weight that S373 is imposing on them as a dangerous exotic animal worthy of being on the ROC list other than the fact that they have been found loose in Florida. My breeding adult females are only in the 6.5 foot range.

You have to remember, nothing about this proposed legislation makes any sense.... It isnt based on facts or science... just mumbo jumbo and rumor...... Intelligent people will never be able to understand what these clowns are trying to accomplish because it doesnt compute

Hey Chris,

Not that I am an expert, but the largest female I have had here was 9.1 foot and she was grossly obese at 47 lbs upon intake. I do stress the obese, scales were spreading.
This bill makes NO sense. Its merely an attempt to ban the trade of as possible

me and my friends aquired a 20yr old female that was a whopping 9ft. she passed on and the vet said the necropsy was due to age! she was just someones LT pet and we got her for free with a bunch of slant front neodeshas. she looked like the run of the mill breeder female around 8ft except her head was wide as can be.

most of the Boa Constrictors over 10 feet are either older than 10 years or they are like what was stated "A RARITY". Maybe they were imported Amazon Basins, Surinams or some other imported locality that is really not well documented.

My Albino female is almost 7 feet. Still a virgin. She is my largest at the moment but not my oldest. I Was planning on breeding her to a Hypo Arabesque Pos Het Albino but may put a temporary hold on that project for this year. I don't exactly want to produce a bunch of animals that I may not be able to sell.

My father currently has a large, old male Columbian who is probably 8-9' long. He's old...probably 12-15 years. Just underwent surgery 2 weeks ago to remove some tumors from his side.

Jake's not over 10', but still a big boy in my book!
