In my eyes they are the same thing.

mykee Sep 18, 2003 11:51 PM

About $2200

Al-G Sep 18, 2003 11:56 PM

I'm not aboot to argue with you.....

Ok, seems I'm going to have to do into detail. In my opinion, a 'pastel' ball is a fancy word some people give to their abberant coloured BP's, they are still normals, and in my opinion, are still only worth $100. It is an abberant normal. A jungle pastel, like Graziani, Bell and many others breed, is a morph. A co-dominant morph of a BP. The females sell for $2500-ish. The difference, is about $2400. Do you disagree? State your case in an educted succinct manner rather than being ignorant.

Pastel and pastel jungle are the same thing. There is no such thing as a normal pastel.

that a pastel jungle is not a co dominate gene where the pastel is..Look at as the pastel is het for super pastel..Just like you can buy het for albino and het for pied and het for ghost...

I agree, it looks to me like sometimes people drop the "Jungle" part of the name when referring to "Pastel Jungles" and so the two names are really synonymous.

Maybe people are consciously getting rid of the "Jungle" part of the name to avoid confusion between the genetically unpredictable "Classic Jungle" type and the co-dominant "Pastel Jungle".

I'm sure there have been a few that try to sell nice normals as "Pastels" but in general I think it refers to the proven "Pastel Jungle" lines.

It seems Kevin at NERD is selling "Pastels" for $1200-$1500
Is he ripping people off Mykee?

Disagree - Graizianis (and the other breeders) call them pastel jungle ball pythons, not jungle pastels.

BillLubak Sep 19, 2003 09:53 AM

I think that that is a great question. I look at so called "Jungle Pastels" that are advertised daily. Most are vey nice pastels with very normal markings! It is very rare to find a pastel with true "Jungle" markings. I found one which I put a deposit on this week from Mark Petros that is just what I was looking for, enough so I'm selling my 66% chance het caramel female to pay him off! I am going to selectively breed him with some very abberant females in the hopes of creating a nice line of Jungle Pastels. I will post a pic when I get him in.

Ok, in my mind, a Pastel anything, is a Pastel. I think most have dropped the Jungle part, because it is a useless adjective. A Pastel Jungle, Jungle Pastel and Pastel are all the same snake! A classic jungle, is something different, and probably not even genetic.

Dave

When I sell the offspring of this animal, and they look like him, the offspring will be advertised as Pastels, nothing more, nothing less.
