Best company to order crickets from?

EricIvins Sep 19, 2003 12:04 AM

What are some of the better online companies that sell crickets? I know some producers aren't equal to others. Any opinions? I don't want them to die within the first week of me getting them, and yes, I do know how to take care of them. If I buy a couple dozen from the pet shop they die within a couple days. I've gotten alot from Petsmart and they actually live a couple weeks, but I don't want to pay 10 cents a cricket. Gets expensive after awhile

I have used Reptilefood.com for over a year and love them. They will be cheaper (due to shipping) if you order 3 or 4 boxes at a time. But I do, as I go in on them with other area herpers. Brings that down to a penny and a half/crix.

I have gotten most of mine through American Cricket Ranch and they seem to be pretty good. I just got my first order ever from Wormman.com, and they were very clean, no "pest bugs" and I don't think there was a dead cricket in either box (I ordered 2000). The only complaint I have with them is that they only ship crickets on Monday and Tuesday, and I had ordered on Tuesday night and didn't recieve crickets until the NEXT Thursday (yesterday, 9 days later). If I had known that when I ordered, I woulda gone with someone else, simply to get them sooner. Local pet stores make a great profit on crickets. They probably get them for nothing then sell them for a dime a piece.... For 15 bucks you can get 1000 to your door online. For the same amount of crickets at a pet store, you would pay $100.00. So if you order 1000 online and 700 of them die, you're still paying less for the ones you got online. And they're probably better crickets.

P.S. Order a little smaller than you need (in size) so they last longer.... If you get large crickets, they die by the time you use them.

I have had nothing but trouble and broken agreements with the wormman. I ordered 3000 mealies and 250 wax worms, got the wax but nothing else. I was promised I would have my mealies in 2-3 days and never came. So, I emailed them last thursday and was told it would be here friday or saturday, well it is monday and still no worms so I have emailed 2 more times wanting a refund, I am going to give reptilefood.com a try. Sorry Ken you have lost a customer.
