helix dbs 1000

zippy00_99 Dec 27, 2009 07:58 PM

I just recieved a helix dbs 1000 for c-mas from my dad and it says that EACH of the plug ins can handle 500 watts each for a total of 1500 watts, but I thought It could handle 1500 watts in one plug in. My oil heater is 1500 watts. What are my options???

The Helix DBS 1000 is only good for 500w unless they have changed. I just looked at the site and my manuals. For the room heater you need a Johnson Control t-stat from Rich at Reptile Basics. He has them wired or do it yourself. They are available with night drop. They will handle 1500W. Mike

I use Ranco thermostats with my oil heaters. They work great.

I have never used a Ranco, I'm sure they work fine, but they do not have a night drop feature. It really comes in handy for the breeding rooms. Mike

Ranco's or Johnson Controls will both work. The JC unit is available with a night drop @ Reptile Basics. I know Helix used to make a 1500 watt unit. Alot of breeders use them for there walk in incubators.

Thanks
