Baby Jungle Carpet

kamptraining Dec 27, 2009 08:59 PM

I have mostly BCI's and Balls. I have seen many wonderful adult Jungle Carpet Pythons, and decided to get one as a pet and not a breeder. I heard that they are nippy as babies and she is very nippy. I have been holding her regularly and there has been no improvement. It's not even right when she gets out or when she gets sick of being held. She strikes often and all the time. Will she grow out of this? Is there anything else I can do?

I had a male that was just like that. I made sure I took him out every day for at least 10 minutes to get used to handling. It became a real challenge. I had to wear rubber gloves at first, but after about a year he calmed down. He's still a little jumpy but he never bites anymore. Don't give up because they're beautiful and make great display snakes that come out during the day. It was well worth the time and effort.
Good luck...
