Slow starters, small neonates, and more.

terryd Dec 28, 2009 01:37 PM

With the holidays I've had a little time to play around w/ some snake photography over the last couple of days.

This little flame thrower Weld co. gentilis is coming along nicely. And I think the mirror image came off well.

And I like this gentilis of Cole's too.

I posted this Madison co. syspila a few days ago, but really thought the ventral pattern was interesting, and took this mirror image of it.

I've been fighting w/ this Marion co. neonate for a number of months now, and it has finally started to take pinkheads on it's own. Big sigh of relief from me too, because I really like her the best of the whole clutch, which have all been feeding on their own for weeks

An in hand shot to show scale of how small she is.

I've also been really happy w/ this bright hypo. syspila. He's been eating like a champ for many weeks now, and is growing nicely. (Photo sucks in so many ways, but still kind of works too.)

I'll end on this Cherry co. female that I've never posted before. I hope you were able to find something interesting in this post. -Dell

Way cool post, Dell. Photos are looking superb, man. It's nice to have my critters back, but man, do you ever make them look good in photos! All of the mirror shots are killer, but that wet rock is really working for you. The little hypo syspila sure is a looker! Feel free to drop it off at my house when you get tired of it...

Are you kidding Dell? Harder to NOT find something to like, especially those mirror shots, cool looking bellies!

The mirror shot is fun to play around w/, and can sometimes be very interesting to see if the animals venter is unusual. I like it more then forcing the animal over for the venter shot anyway. But that works too. -Dell

I would love to see you w/ some hypo syspila Doug, and I'm glad to hear you like them too.
That little pissant of a syspila took her first full pink yesterday. It took her about twenty minutes to "getter done", but she did.
Here she is again from a few months ago.

And here is that little hypo just out of the egg.

That little hypo is just so uniquely distinct looking too. Impossible to confuse it as anything other than real-deal genuine hypo!

Very nice Dell. We ought to find a way to get you more time off so you can spend time with your camera. Beautiful animals as always. I really like Cole's gentilis you posted as well as those syspila. That hypo syspila is something else.

Good work getting that one on pink heads. I only have one temporalis left that won't take heads on her own...Errr.

Thanks AD, if you did know where I live, you'd have a hard time getting past the dog, cat's, kids, wife, and big rolling boulder that follows you down the hall if you don't use the pass word.

Unfortunately, I don't even think it's legal for me to keep syspilas here. I haven't checked TN state herp laws in years -- but I think it used to be illegal to keep any herp with a native range in this state, without an educator's permit. So I'd have to steal em, and then keep em illegally too. It's always somethin.....
