R.I.P. Limon (Cyclophiops Major died)

dekaybrown Dec 28, 2009 08:46 PM

I don't normally post on here when I lose an animal... But this one was very special to a lot of people.

Limon was with us for nearly 2 years, He was a fantastic eater, tolerated handling well, and was just an all around really cool yet unique snake.

Some day I will do this again, but these giant green beauties are so hard to get a healthy one.

Goodbye my green friend, I miss you already.

I'm sorry to hear that -- it's a real bummer. Limon was a really cool snake. As you know, most Asian Greens don't last that long. Smooth greens of any kind are notoriously difficult to keep and while you may have been doing a great job with him, it's impossible to know what he went through before he entered your care. Do you have any guesses as to how hold he was when you got him? Because he was almost definitely wild-caught, it might be possible to age him using a vertebrae but it's probably way more effort than it's worth if you don't already know how do to that I just think it would be an interesting thing to know

An educated guess would be respiratory failure. When I found him, his lungs were collapsed.

As for age, he was an adult when I purchased him, he did gain a few inches in my care, and he got a lot more of a "solid feel" to him after he started eating good.

He slurped down night crawlers like spaghetti, and always ate 3-4 per meal, and would eat them almost every day.

Next time around, I will be going to the vet for a fecal test.

And when I do find more, I will buy MINIMUM a pair, Possibly a trio.

Thanks again everybody, The nice words mean a lot to me.
