Sav Cage

KenC Dec 28, 2009 10:34 PM

So here is how my first sav cage is comming along. The next think I am going to do is cut the ramp on the left side of the cage and screw it inn. Just put it inn to show you what I am thinking. The basking spot is 130F and the substrate is 20'' soil sand mix.
Any suggestions on improvements? I am open to all criticism. I am new at this. BTW the monitors were both rescues. One from CL and the other from the animal shelter.

It looks great!.. but personally, all I would do is bolt up a 48" shoplight in there and put a wire grid over it and add at least one reptisun 48" bulb and one true full spectrum 48" bulb in it, or use 2 full spectrum daylight bulbs in the 48 light and stick a 100w power sun bulb in just one of those spots.

Now, there are those on the forum that "poo - poo" trying to keep monitors under more natural lighting with a modest dose of UV... but well.. you can listen to whatever "expert" you choose.

It is always great to see someone trying to go above and beyond to take the best care of their pet. Kudos to you.

Best of luck to you and your sav,
Todd G.

Thanks for the reply.

I am gonna stick with the vitamins w/ d3 supplement for the winter.

I am working on doing an indoor/outdoor cage for the summer. I just have to convince my wife on cutting a hole in the house.

I hope she lets you cut that hole

Make sure to post pics when done!
