New enclosure activity

mightybd Dec 29, 2009 11:54 AM

Hi, I have 4 Ball Pythons, I just added a very nice spider.
Two of my others came with their enclosure, and the other I do not remember as I had him in a tub type enclosure at first.

My spider has been very active, to me this kind of activity is a sign of bad husbandry. I kind of hope it is just because she is in a new enclosure and this is normal.
But, lets double check my temps.

The cage is a custom built one just like all my others, 36"x20", sliding glass doors, 12"x12" screen 'hole' on top.
Humidity 50% (winter ) *65%summer
Under tank heater 11"x17" set with temp probe to 88-92(outside of
pad to center of pad)
Cold end of the tank I have found one spot that goes to 77, however generally 79-83o.
3 hides:
1-lousy more of a thing
2-humidity hide with spag moss
3-tuppereware with hole to size

Water bowl to size
*the sack the snake was transported in is also in the cage right now.

Please let me know if I need to change anything or any ideas why she is so excited.
Thanks

I'm confused on why you would think activity is a sign of bad husbandry?

It was not just activity, it was almost a frantic search of the cage for about 4 hours. Not just slowly exploring but full speed...
When I see unusual activity in any of my pets cage, I always check the temps and stuff first...
She calmed down by night time.

different snakes have different ways of handling the stress of a move.

she just went from her old comfortable home to yours. she was understandably a little freaked about where she was. sounds like she settled down just fine.

i wouldn't worry about it.
