new enclosure questions

rdm01 Dec 29, 2009 05:00 PM

hi everyone

I just made a new enclosure and placed my snake inside. Shes over 3 feet long.
She roams every once in a while but always ends up staying on the hot end for days. Shes been inside her new enclosure for a week now and she doesnt seem interested in food either.
I also had to move her to a new room unfortunately, but its far more private.

I added a new larger water dish and a little pvc plastic pipe tunnel for her to roam in. She has 2 ceramic hides which she has used for a couple months with no problems. The temps are correct and so is the humidity.

The cage is 40x17x13 (inches) and is a plastic tub that I converted into an enclosure using hinges and a weather strip to make sure it fits tight.
could this be too large?

She was in a cage about 27x12x13.

Thanks for the tips!

I don't have much to offer, but she could feel overwhelmed by the size difference in the cage. Also, did you change beddings, use any type of paint, cleaning supply that may be creating a smell? I'm drawing at straws on the last question, but keeping the strange options open. She may just need more time to adjust.
