The bill (S.373) passed the committee hearing, but it still has to be voted on by Congress to become law. I think this will happen in a few months.
thanks
>>Natsamjosh is correct. However, they added "boa constrictor" (species level, not family level) to the list, which impacts all ten subspecies, some of which are *very* common in the pet trade. There are currently multiple campaigns underway to get people to contact their Senators by phone, fax, or (best of all) in person. The more people who set up meetings, the more easily we can stop this.
Thanks for adding this. For anyone who still thinks he/she won't be affected by this, please reconsider. The forces behind these proposed laws ultimately want ALL species of reptiles to be banned. Many "boa constrictor guys" didn't seem to care, or even supported the bills, when the bills were limited to pythons. Now boa constrictors are on the hit list. Rainbow boas, carpet pythons, ball pythons, etc., they'll all be on the hit list soon if we don't fight to kill this idiotic Federal legislation.
