johnthebaptist Dec 30, 2009 08:56 PM

i am thinking about taking in a florida kingsnake that someone is getting rid of. Ive kept kings and read about florida kings. Is there anything i should know about this species? how different are they than cali kings?

All I could say is that brooksi are bigger than cali kings and they sure love to eat

Just set the cage down on the ground when you open the lid, and get ready to throw them food before they chase you down and grab YOU first!..HAHAHAA! Mine all slap their tales all against the sides of the enclosure in uncontrollable excitement before they come shooting out like race horses at a starting gate!

True EATING MACHINES!

great lol...the guy actually referred to the snake as 'a very aggressive eater' funny thing is all my colubrids are good eaters but layed back. my ball python i switched over to frozen after being fed live his whole life will come out of his hide and get in that S shape with a nervous shake ready to strike with a fury if he smells a rat it frightens me. way i see it id rather have one of those than a snake that wont eat lol

Yeah, I'm thinking not eating won't be an issue with this one..LOL!

good luck with things!

LOL!, I know exactly what ya mean bro, LOTS of personality, and very easy-going when outside their enclosures, and not in "feed" mode..LOL!
