HELP!..... shedding problems

supercooper May 25, 2003 03:41 PM

i'm having problems with my corn snake's shedding process. the first time he shed everything was perfect and his skin came off all in one piece. i sprayed him with water when his eyes turned cloudy the first time and i did the same thing this time but his second shed two days ago; however, didn't turn out as well. everything was messy and he still has a lot more skin to shed. i tried to hold him firmly in a wet towel to try to remove more of the skin but that didnt really work. i only got a little off of the tail. can anyone please give me some suggestions. i dont want to rip the rest off cause i'm affraid i'll pull off his new scales. thanks.

You could go to ur local pet store and they should have some shedding medicine. But for next time, what works for me is when ur corns eyes are done being cloudy put it in a bath of warm water. For about 5 minutes. He should she in 24-42 hours. It works great.

i used a "I can't believe it's not butter" one for my amel, who had a problem with retained sheds on her tail, and it all came off beutifully. just put some airholes in the top and fill it about half with soaking wet paper towels, (warm, room temp) put the snake in and leave it there without opening it for 30 minutes and hopefully it will works as well for you as it i=did for me

good luck
