Tub size for adult corns?

reptilejunkie Jan 02, 2010 09:02 AM

I have one adult corn snake. He is currently housed in a Vision v-35 tub. I mostly keep ball pythons, so I have the v-35 racks and v-70 racks. Is the v-35 tub (approx 16" X 20" large enough for an adult corn? What size tubs does everyone use for subadults and adults?

Thanks,
Bill J.

If you can afford the space, it would certainly be a bit more optimum to have a slightly bigger enclosure, but a 16 x 20 tub is pretty standard for many keepers/breeders(me included) that have many snakes in rack type enclosures. I find they are pretty decent for adult corns and other colubrids, but any smaller than that is starting to get a little tight in my opinion.

So basically, yes, that is adequate for an adult corn, and I and many others do the same.

I would say it depends on the size of adult corn you have. As I have a snow corn who is barely over 3' and an adult normal corn who is 5' (give or take an inch) I wouldn't put the large corn in a tub that small though the snow corn would be perfect in there.
