Stinky Stool

BeArDyCrAzY May 25, 2003 03:45 PM

My bearded dragons stool stinks, but it isn't runny. Could parasites be the cause of the smell??

yes...parasites are most probably the cause of the stinky stool...bring a fresh fecal to your vet, also tell them the weight of your dragon (of you dont know bring it in j/ to weigh so if it is parasites then they know the weight) good luck

I have this product called "Rid Worm" and it's for intestinal parasites, should i try using this?? (i don't think there are any vets that have experience w/ reptiles in my area, thats why i haven't taken my beardy to one)

How would you know what dosage to give?

BeArDyCrAzY May 25, 2003 09:00 PM

the dosage depends on the weight of the animal, their is a guide on the label of the bottle indicating how much of the rid worm should be given to the animal according to it's weight

Well, it is used for roundworm and if they tell you the dosage then.....it's up to you..lol
But first, I would get a fecal done, even a dog vet knows what a roundworm looks like. It may dehydrate your beardie to give it if it doesn't have worms.
It could be Coccidia too, in which case you would need totally different meds. Best to get the fecal done first..
