Temps in Aiken, SC ...

kathylove Jan 03, 2010 12:05 PM

are supposed to get down to 18F for the next 3 nights, and only into the 40s during the day. Not sure how a Burmese python could survive, unless they have dug really, really deep burrows for them. Even the pond should have some ice on it, although probably not frozen over. Does anyone have any updates on the project?? I sure would love to hear some details.

I think we ALL deserve to know what's going on with that! I hope they give updates periodically, otherwise, what good will the info be AFTER the fact.

With the cold wave hitting even into Florida, these animals must be dead by now.

How are we, the Concerned Public, to know that the researchers haven't simply brought in the snakes until it warms up, since these temperatures could be considered "abnormally low" and excluded as outliers?

It's easy, Chris-if they're still alive, then we know they were somehow given "artificial support"

Someone who knows Whit should email him.
With the temps in Miami going down to 37, watch out for falling iguanas!

I think we'll have a new Super Species Python by spring...what with the interbreeding with the Eastern Diamondback...should be very cold tolerant and venomous to boot. Makes for a great movie script. Hollywood, you getting this? Writing the screen play as we speak.
