i was wondering if anybody had some good tips on how to sex trivittatus? i have 3 adults, but they all look very similar in size and shape. there has been no calling, and they are all kind of round. thanks.

Hello.
In general, the males are slightly smaller and less robust. They mature somewhat early and males will start calling as soon as they do. Sounds to me like you got three females. If they are over a year old and havent called yet... then most likely all females.

Good Luck,

I had the same problem with my biolats.

I had a group of six trivies for a little over 3 years (3 red, 3 green). I ended up with two males from each color morph, but they didn't begin calling until they were about a year and a half to two years old. My females appeared much more plump than the males even as juveniles, so if you notice a difference now, then you might just have a trio of females.

i have had them for over 6 months, and they are definatly adult sized frogs. i am going to feed really heavy for the next week and increase humidity to see if that changes anything... but i really think i have 3 females, because they all look the same. thanks again.

Just thought I'd let you know that someone has a male orange/red Trivie in the frognet classifieds. I'm not sure if you mentioned what color morph you have, but thought I'd pass it to you anyways
