My first arrivals of 2010

Beaker30 Jan 07, 2010 03:03 PM

Here are the trio of thayeri I was waiting on until after the holidays. I was lucky enough to obtain them from my friend Loren Pennebaker. The two lighter animals are the parents to Michelle Rogers wonderful aberrant 07 male. I was so excited to get them and hopefully produce a cool aberrant of my own. But I think I will give them a year off and wait to try until 2011.

Here is the male. He is a 2002 Vermilya pure white line animal. He was also from the leopard line branch of the white line. I love his open saddles and super light color:

Here is the light female that is mom to the aberrant. She is a 2001 Vermilya animal. She has some really nice markings and a sweet personality:

And to complete the trio, an earth toned 03 female that Loren got from Chris Garcia. She is Luois Torres stock and has a wonderful pattern spiced up with a few broken saddles and some double alternates. She also has some rose tones between each saddle that I didnt mange to capture with my evolving photography skills:

Again, its going to be hard to wait to breed these wonderful animals, but I think it would be best for them. Thanks again Loren!

Wow, Craig. Nice scores all around. That first animal is especially super clean. Good luck getting another aberrant. And kudos for the patience to not breed them right away. It's great to see folks really caring for their animals!

Those are all nice Craig.....
Who produced that 2003 Louis Torres female you got from Loren.....Chris didn't, did he?
Did Louis Torres? Or David Weymouth (I can't find it on David's 2003 Louis Torres offspring list).....

She is very nice......Congrats

John,

I dont know on her yet. All I know is that Loren said he got her from Chris G. I had originally only intended to purchase the Vemilya pair. I was so excited about them because that aberrant 07 male of Michelle's is one of my favorites. I am excited to try to make my own. The Garcia girl became part of the trio at Loren's suggestion. Now I am glad I have her. I have sent an e-mail to Chris to see if he can tell me if he produced her, or purchased her.

My opinion is this.....
I don't think Chris Garcia produced her nor David Weymouth....Louis Torres may have though.....
Please share when you find out.....I think that girl is killer and I have many from Louis Torres via David Weymouth......

BTW...Does anyone know how to contact Louis Torres?
I would love to learn where his stock originated.

John,

I got the info back from Chris. He said he did in fact produce her. Her sire was Vern, and her dam was Mildred. Vern is a Vermilya animal, and Mildred is Louis Torres. I knew Torres was in there somewhere...lol. And yes, she is killer. She looks way better in person than my lousy pics look. I think you can barely see the rose/orange blush between her saddles on the last third of her body in my pic. I think the problem was the incandescent lighting yellowed her a bit and makes her true colors harder to see. I will try to get a pic of her in natural light when the weather warms.

Cool...Craig...I never doubted you....I just wanted to know how it traced back to Torres since I have 2.2 from his line as well.

hey Craig, looks like you got a little Mildred after all! That's a great looking snake, and Mildred has put a lot of great looking snakes out in the last 8 years. I'm starting to see them more and more in some of the top thayeri out there.

Hey Craig,
I just re read this post and.....Can you explain this to me? If you say that 2002 male is a PURE white line how can it have the leopard line in it too? I could understand that it is the product of a white line bred to a leopard line, but I don't think Dan had a leopard "line" rather one leopard animal hatch.....Maybe one of the leopards siblings was bred to a white line animal to produce this male?

I'm confusing myself.....LOL

Again beautiful thayeri Craig...Congratulations on your acquisition.....

Very nice Craig. I was hoping to have a couple new ones this year already too but the weather won't get above 10 degrees here... so they are stuck in FL. LOL

I've got a nice male that came from the first male in your post. Nice scores!

Josh,

I know how bad it sucks to have to wait. If I sounded a little overly enthusiastic in this post vs others of mine it was because I was truly excited about this pair. One of my favorite snakes, if not my favorite thayeri in the US is the 07 aberrant male of Michelle's. I have offered her the moon for him, but she wont budge...lol. I wanted that snake alot, and when he was produced, Michelle snapped him up less than 30 minutes ahead of me. I have been bugging her ever since. So when the opportunity arose for me to acquire these adults, I jumped. If I cant have the aberrant male, maybe I can make one of my own with the parents, right? But I anm going to be patient. I have waited this long. I am going to feed them and get them in prime condition before I try to breed them next season. Thanks for the kind words. Take care.
