Thinking I'll use this guy to breed with her. He's got good genetics (dad is a 6' monster). He's also got a slightly aberant pattern. Sorry about the crappy pic, my method of taking 500 pictures to get one good one isn't going well today.

Cool snakes. I have to get up to Marks and take some photos of the big "daddy" pender. He is the dad to a pair I have as well, same clutch as yours I believe. I picked them up in deli-cups over the summer and the male is already eating mice and 30 inches long. I just moved him into the adult rack yesterday. You are going to be shocked at how fast that male grows. My female is 25 inches long now.

Joe, I know what you mean. They grow noticably bigger with each meal. It'll be interesting to see how big they are in a year.

You cant post a tease saying you have a 6'er and not post a pic!

Unfortunately, I don't have a six footer. He belongs to someone else. I just picked up a pair of his offsspring. I'm hoping to get over there in about a month. Maybe I'll be able to get a pic. So instead, here's the biggest eastern I presently have, only around 4'.

Jeff, I have held the dad and he is huge. I have been meaning to get some photos of him also because most people (including myself) don't like to believe people when they claim these "giant snakes" they have seen. I assure you he is the real deal and photos will be posted eventually. Mark Hardie is the owner of the snake and he is who we got our hatchlings from. He lives about forty minutes north of me so I have no excuse for not getting some photos. Well, yeah I do, LAZY!!!

I have had but 1 6' chain king but you may be in range of the notorious "Chuck the snake man"?? He has a chain king in his freezer he claims is 7'....of course its frozen in a ball, lol. It was significantly bigger than the 6'er I had(alas before digital cameras). Wish we could thaw that guy out for a pic sometime.....

Very nice easterns. One of my earliest favorites (in the '60s). Truly underrated in the hobby, I think. Bets of luck with them.

Thanks Tom. Me too... it was a huge impressive eastern at this one pet store as a kid that really got me hooked.

Yes, I agree, very cool for sure!. They have an interesting broken-pattern characteristic!

Good luck with the propagation of those bad boys!

Those are some gorgeous Eastern Kingsnakes! Thanks for sharing the photos. By the way, how's their temperament?

donv Jan 08, 2010 03:02 PM

The highly aberant female is still a sometimes spas. All the others have become very tame.
