I saw this boy available at a show for a very cheap price and couldn't resist. Now the daunting task of finding a lone female.

Very handsome snake. You'll also have to find a large enclosure from what I've seen of the adults some have!

Thanks Matt. Big containers for sure, one source I read states males can reach 9'.

Wow, long lines, nice symmetry to the pattern and good color for a young one! Is he nippy like mine?

Thanks, I thought he was the best looking of the three males available, though one was in shed so hard to say. And yes, he's got some 'tude. A little nippy but clams down once held for awhile.

I'm pretty sure he doesn't clam at all.

LOL...sure wish mine would clam up, rather that clamp on What I've been doing is letting her bite me at will hoping that she'll learn it doesn't do any good and give up. It's cute now, but won't be when she's 8 feet!

Mine's not nearly that bad. A little tail rattling and some half hearted strikes. He's also getting better each time he's handled. I have read that some adults aren't always great snakes to handle. I've gotten spoiled w/ my northerns. They are literally a lap snake, never in a big hurry. This lined pit reminds me more of some black pines I used to have. Not mean but not always cooperative either.
I would do what your doing. I've had some real biters (beauty snakes etc) that I thought were never gonna change. A little persistance(and lost blood) usually pays off in the long run.

I was thinking the same darn thing - that snake looks killer in the second pic.

That's a beauty! You're gaining a collection of superb specimens.
Sometime you should post photos of all of your beauties all at once.

Thanks for the compliment Russ. The reality is there are so many nice specimens available of virtually everything. Like the incredible northerns I got from you. The trick is to know when to stop (haven't mastered this yet). BTW, I'm really wanting some nice black pines again. I had an awesome pair that produced multiple times a few years back. So I'll probably be hitting you up for some when we move to a larger place or I can manufacture more space.
