Boa breeding age/size......

JTrott Jan 07, 2010 11:03 PM

Which is more important? I have a 3 year old female that has been growing really slow, and is only about 4.5-5'. Is she ready to breed? She has been on a feeding schedule of about every 7-10 days, but does not seem to grow really fast. Do you think that she is ready to breed, or should I wait another season. If she is ready, I am not going to pair her until April or so. Sorry if this is a stupid question, but I am new to boas.

Thanks in advance,
Jason

I have a 3 1/2 year old female Salmon Jungle Het Albino and she is 5' 8" and is 5lbs 11oz. She just moved up to Large F/T rats. I am going to wait until she is on X-Large and about 10 pounds before I breed her. It's not just about age although it is very important for them to be sexually mature in age it is also important that they are at the right size to safely produce offspring. Some breeders have to wait until there females are 4.5-5 years old becuase they are slow growers.

I have a 6 year old 9 foot virgin female that STILL refuses to breed with my male. I need to weigh her, she's honestly probably 20 pounds. He's so in love with her....very messy.... won't leave her alone...but she just won't lock up with him. It's soooo frustrating, I want sunglows d*mn it!!

I got some advise from an old pro, he said just keep them together (except for feeding of course) and eventually it'll happen. I wanted it to happen 3 seasons ago though!
