First two pics are a Charles Co. female. Third and fourth are a Va. Beach female from Patton.

Look at the difference in head shape on that VA beach guy, notice how its more elongated. Kinda strange as that area and Curtituck usually have shorter/thicker heads as you head out to the OBX. Anyone else see this?

Now THAT is exactly the super wide-patterned look I was talking about in Dan W's earlier post!........AWESOME!

Thanks Doug. Please excuse my crappy quick photos. You will notice how nice the pyro colors look on the one male shot that was taken a month ago in good lighting. Does not even look like the same snake. The eastern will look much better when I photograph them in the spring in good lighting.

Yeah bro, I would really like to see some super nice quality shots of that one when you can get around to it!.

Hey Doug, something else interesting on the Va. Beach snakes is that their venters are almost all white. At least down to the lower third of the snake. I will have to take some pics of the sub-adult male I have from Phil. Solid white most of the way down. Have you ever noticed that with any other locale?

DMong Jan 09, 2010 12:44 AM

All I can say is a solid white venter is VERY uncommon to see in an Eastern, and I'm not really aware of a locality that typically displays a white venter either. Some of the other guys will hopefully be able to have some additional input on it too.

You should ask your boys Keith and Peter about that too. Howie Sherman might have a good take on that as well, but he doesn't post here that often anymore.

In any case, that Virginia Beach Eastern you have is really outstanding, I know that for a fact buddy. If you can produce anymore like that, you would certainly have people standing in line for those.

Doug, I will get some better pics of the yellow calvert when it warms up outside. The awesome Va. Beach was produced by Phil Patton and he had several that were that nice. I won't be able to breed these for at least another year. I am working on stuffing their faces as much as possible though!!

DMong Jan 09, 2010 11:49 AM

I'm sure Phil really appreciates their very unique beauty too.

Good luck with those man!, and I look forward to those pics that you mentioned.

All credit goes to Phil on that one. (Patton). I got a pair from him and they both are sweet. Thanks.
